Psychic Attacks

Psychic Attack

Have you ever felt like you are under psychic attack? Do you feel that someone may be able to remotely effect your life in a negative way? Have you yourself ever unwittingly or even wittingly unleashed a psychic force? If you have answered yes to any of these question then you are clearly not alone. It is thought that over a quarter of people in the West believe in psychic powers and I’m sure that here in Glastonbury that percentage would rise dramatically. There are numerous shops in town selling amulets, trinkets, crystals, books and even tattoos that are said to be able to ward off evil energy. There is clearly a market for it but is there any truth to it?

The modern, rational and scientific mind would emphatically state that it is all mumbo jumbo and hocus pocus but contrary to what you might think, if you look at humans throughout history and throughout the world, this view point is substantially in the minority.

Ranging from the voodoo of Haiti, to the evil eye of Turkey. From the blood sacrifices of the ancient Aztecs to the exorcisms of the Catholic Church, humans have always believed in and sought protection from dark forces. We largely disregard these views nowadays as primitive and superstitious but may there be something to it after all?

Modern science has relatively recently discovered that we are all energetic beings. It has proved beyond question that matter and consciousness are inextricably linked. Many people have postulated that we are one collected consciousness and the idea of us as separate entities is nothing but an illusion created by our minds. If we all actively partake in the co-creation of our collective reality, might it be possible that some people have a stronger pull on it than others. Might it be possible that some people through sheer force of will, have the ability to effect the apportioned consciousness of another?

These questions whilst being interesting, are actually largely irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, is that if you believe you are under psychic attack then the effects on the body are indeed very real. Back in 1942 the fore runner of physiological psychology Dr Walter Cannon, coined the term ‘voodoo death’ to describe the phenomenon of sudden death as brought about by a strong emotional shock. Also known as psychogenic death or psychosomatic death, Cannon postulated the idea that fear could affect a person to the point that their physical condition would deteriorate dramatically in response to psychological distress. Citing examples of extraordinary deaths in aboriginal societies, Cannon explained that fear of supernatural consequences was what ultimately caused the demise witnessed in the natives. More modern scientific researchers have created elaborate theories involving hormones, endocrine glands and the parasympathetic nervous system but they do agree that it is possible to scare yourself to death. A more recent study has shown that people who have been wrongly diagnosed with cancer, can in fact die just because they believed that they had had the disease.

All of these ideas are consistent with Chinese medical theory in that we are all made up of something known as Qi or energy. Some people have a stronger Qi field than others and those with a weaker Qi field are more susceptible to exogenous attacks. These attacks may come in many guises, ranging from the mundane such as the wind, to the more esoteric sounding ‘lines of evil pathogenic Qi’. However the solution is always the same. Build more Qi. Increase your own energy so that your energetic field is more complete and solid and therefore less vulnerable. A sure fire way of depleting this field is to live in a state of fear. A state of fear that many of us have lived in for the past two years. We have collectively been subjected to a continual barrage of threats to our safety that surely could be seen to amount to psychic attack. As one perceived threat is superseded by another potentially much greater one, it may pay to bear in mind that fear does not stop death, but it can in fact stop life.
